This fight appears in Linnea’s Story Quest: Alcyon Chapter Act I – “Up! Toward Homecoming Wings“. There are two separate battles — first against Mualani in a rock-paper-scissors style combat game, then against Mamala in a swimming/evasion battle.
Part 1 – Beating Mualani (Rock-Paper-Scissors Combat)
This fight uses a color-coded counter system, not real combat. The three moves are:
- 🔴 RED beats 🟣 PURPLE
- 🟣 PURPLE beats 🟢 GREEN
- 🟢 GREEN beats 🔴 RED

Reading Mualani’s Body Language
Her hand position tells you whether she’s being honest or faking:
| Body Language | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Crosses her arms | She’s being honest — trust the Traveler’s hint |
| Hand on head | She’s faking — do the opposite of what the Traveler suggests |
| Hands on hips | She’s being straightforward — follow the Traveler’s read |
Reading the Traveler’s Dialogue
Direct hint (e.g., “Mualani looks like she’s going for RED”) → She’s genuinely going RED, so pick GREEN to counter
Suspicious hint (e.g., “Mualani seems to be leaning RED but looks suspicious”) → She’s baiting you into GREEN so she can switch to PURPLE. Pick RED to counter her PURPLE instead
Simple rule: If the Traveler says she looks suspicious or is trying to bait you — use the color named in the dialogue, not the counter to it.

Her Ultimate Attack
When Mualani uses her Ultimate, always Dodge Right.
Part 2 – Beating Mamala (Swimming Battle)
This is a movement and evasion fight in the water. Mamala has a blind spot — the key to winning is getting behind her or positioning to exploit that blind spot.
Strategy:
- Stay mobile — don’t hold still in the water. Mamala’s attacks have telegraphed patterns
- Get behind Mamala — the game explicitly tells you her blind spot is behind her. Position yourself there to land hits and avoid her charges
- “Jump, Mamala!” — when you see this prompt or she surfaces, use the opportunity to reposition and attack
- Watch for charge warnings — “Get out of the water” and “Watch out” are cues to dodge immediately
Once you successfully exploit her blind spot three times, Mamala loses the fight.
Tips to Avoid Failing
- Don’t rush the Mualani fight — read both her body language and the Traveler’s dialogue before picking
- In the Mamala fight, patience wins — don’t charge in, wait for blind spot openings
- If you lose either fight, you can retry immediately from the same checkpoint
- The Mualani fight has no real penalty for wrong guesses — you just reset that round
